Go to the Pro tab in the bottom navigation, then tap "Upgrade to Pro". Payment is processed securely via Google Play.

Tap the large + button at the bottom of a counter card to increment. Tap − to decrement.

Swipe right on any counter card — an edit dialog will open where you can update the name, mode, step, and limits.

Swipe left on a counter card to reveal the Reset and Delete buttons.

CAP sets a maximum value for a counter. You'll see a warning at 85% and the counter locks at 100%. Tap the CAP/GOAL button on a counter card to set it.

Goal sets a target for your counter. A progress ring fills up as you count toward your goal. When reached, you'll be asked to continue or reset and start again.

No. Each counter can only have one mode — either CAP or Goal, not both.

Groups let you organize counters by event, project, or location. Each group can contain multiple counters — perfect for keeping everything tidy.

On the Home screen, tap "New Group" at the bottom of the list.

Swipe right on a group card to open the edit dialog, where you can update the group name and accent color.

Swipe left on a group card and tap Reset. This resets all counter values and clears their history, but keeps all counter names and settings intact.

Swipe left on a group card and tap Delete. This permanently removes the group along with all its counters and history. Note: the Delete option only appears when you have more than one group.

Long press on any group or counter card, then drag it up or down to the position you want. The new order is saved automatically.

Hard Reset clears all counter values and history in a group, making it like a brand new group. Counter names, colors, and settings are kept.

Free users can have 1 group with up to 5 counters. Pro users have unlimited groups and counters.

Every time you tap +, Notch records that tap for today. The History screen shows how many times you incremented each day, over 7, 30, or 90 days.

No. Only + taps are recorded in history. Decrements and resets do not affect history data.

A regular reset (tap refresh icon) does not clear history. A Hard Reset on the group clears all history.

Yes! In the History screen, toggle between "Group" view (all counters combined) and "Each" view (individual counter charts).

You can export as:

• Text report — quick share via any app (WhatsApp, email, etc.)
• CSV — open in Excel or Google Sheets
• PDF — formatted report with Notch branding

Each format is available for a single group or all groups at once.

Inside any group, tap the share icon (↑) in the header to open the Share & Export sheet.

The PDF includes group name, counter names, current count, limit/goal, progress percentage, and step increment.

Go to Settings → Data & Backup → Backup Data. You can share the backup file to Google Drive, email, or save directly to your Downloads folder.

Go to Settings → Data & Backup → Restore Data. Select your backup JSON file. You'll be shown the backup date and number of groups before confirming.

Yes. Restoring replaces all current groups and counters with the backup data. A confirmation dialog will appear before proceeding.

Go to Settings → Display → Dark Mode toggle.

When enabled, your screen stays on while using Notch — useful for event counting where you don't want the screen to turn off mid-session.

Go to Settings → Data & Backup → Reset All Data. This deletes all groups and counters. Your Pro status is not affected.

No. Notch does not collect, store, or share any personal data. All your data stays on your device only. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

All data is stored locally on your device using internal storage. Nothing is sent to any server.

Your data will be deleted when you uninstall the app. We recommend backing up your data before uninstalling.

Tap "Restore Purchase" in the Pro tab to restore your purchase via Google Play. Make sure you're signed in with the same account.

Emoji in group or counter names are automatically removed from PDF exports for compatibility. The names still appear correctly in the app and in text reports.

If you used "Save to Downloads", check your Downloads folder in your Files app. The filename format is:
notch_backup_DD-MM-YYYY_HH-MM.json

This is a limitation of Android's file picker system, not a bug in Notch.

Android uses a system called the Storage Access Framework (SAF) to display cloud storage providers in the file picker. For a cloud app to appear there, it must register itself as a "Documents Provider" — a background service that allows Android to browse its files. Not all cloud apps implement this, and some (like certain versions of Dropbox) do not register consistently across all Android versions or devices. This is entirely outside Notch's control.

Workaround: If your cloud app is missing from the picker, here's what to do:

• Open your cloud app (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) directly.
• Locate your Notch backup file — named something like notch_backup_DD-MM-YYYY_HH-MM.json.
• Download or save it to your device's local storage (e.g. the Downloads folder).
• Go back to Notch → Settings → Restore Data, then select the file from your device.

Tip: To avoid this issue in the future, use Backup → Save to Downloads instead of the Share/Cloud option. This saves the backup directly to your device's Downloads folder, which is always accessible during restore.

History records your taps automatically each day. If you don't see any data, it likely means the counter hasn't been used yet, or was recently reset. Start counting and data will appear the next time you open History.
